Dr. Joana Tala is an American College of Lifestyle Medicine certified Lifestyle Medicine Professional. She studied medicine at St. George’s School of Medicine in Grenada and is ECFMG certified. Joana performed clinical research at Yale School of Medicine and Yale New Haven Hospital for over a decade, where she coordinated clinical research in pediatric critical care. During this period, she authored several peer reviewed published articles and co-authored over a dozen published peer reviewed articles. She also obtained a certification in recognition of her oral presentation at the American Academy for Pediatrics national conference.
In addition, she has been performing regular patient consultation with other physicians.
Dr. Tala earned her certification in Lifestyle Medicine and is certified Health and Wellness Coach as well as a National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP) Coach. She is very excited about assisting bring about a healthy community. She now assists people gain healthier lifestyles by consulting and coaching on stress reduction, good nutrition, good social networking, physical activities, alcohol reduction and tobacco cessation, keeping a healthy sleep pattern and most importantly coaches to PREVENT Type 2 Diabetes.
Our goal is to assist in the achievement of a healthy, happy community.
Individual and/or Group sessions
1. Initial visit – Introduction, decision on how to proceed. About 1 hour.
2. Second visit – Decision about what program to follow (pros and cons); single consultations versus group sessions or both
3. If individual coaching preferred, weekly sessions for as long as client requires. This will cover one-on-one empowerment sessions, sharing up-to-date information. Agreeing on next exercise
4. If group session preferred, begin week 3. Weekly sessions with other members, weekly for 6 weeks then twice a month for 6 weeks (3 visits). Total of 12 sessions.
Client can stop if they are comfortable at week 8.
